Nobody ever wants to hear that little four letter word… MOLD, but the truth is, at some point in our lives, we will all have to deal with the inevitable. We all deal with mold here and there and most of us become desensitized to it. We see mold, we clean it. If we don’t see it, then we assume it doesn’t exist. Mold spores can be very dangerous to you and your family, so do not let that mold go untreated any longer.
There are a few tips here on where to look for that mold. Clearly, any were that moisture remains in the air for extended periods of time is a good starting point. Check near bathrooms, facets, and outside faucets as well. Make sure that water is draining under your home (if you have a pier and beam foundation) as this can lead to wood rot/ molding of your floor boards. Check your AC over flow pan. This is often over looked and often a source of mold spores. Most AC units now have a PVC pipe sticking up near the drain pan. This allows you to dump a cup full of bleach down the drain every so often to reduce the impacts of mold and dust build up. Mold can also be a serious issue in garages.
When it comes to mold and the safety of you and your family, it is better to be safe than sorry. Call some local contractors, get some bids and see if the mold your living with is going to kill you. The best advice for anything regarding your health is to call for help before it’s too late.

Let’s face it, this summer was notorious for awful weather. Where I live in Texas, we had near a record year when it came to tornado’s. In fact, although no tornado’s touched down near my home, we had several days this summer of straight line winds which damaged quite a few homes… mine included.
